INTERNAL FAMILY SYSTEMS (IFS)
THERE’S JUST A PART OF ME THAT—
Says and does things I regret
Shuts me down or comes on too strong
Gets into not so good relationships
Eats too much when I’m not hungry
Worries much too much
How often have you been taken aback or surprised with how some part of you reacted at home or at work? These may have been times when your buttons were pushed or you felt like you just weren’t yourself.
HEALING FROM WITHIN
Developed by Richard Schwartz, Ph.D., over 30 years ago IFS is a mindfulness-based mind-body approach to working with the different parts of us that make up who we are today. The basic premise of IFS is we all have many aspects to our identity, the roles we play, in other words who we are as a human being.
IFS is about inner healing.
Our various parts have helped us survive, adapt, make things happen, create and love. Under stress, difficult life circumstances and everyday habit these parts automatically take over the lead in our thoughts, feelings and actions— not always in alignment with what we value or what is in our best interests in our lives today. When these parts act without our intention and leadership it’s easy to get caught in self-defeating behaviors.
SELF-LEADERSHIP
Our work together is to identify and heal these parts of our self so they can support you and not work against you. My clients gain a deeper connection with their true values, learn to have greater control with their emotions, like themselves more and become freer to achieve their goals. They often experience great emotional relief, self-control, creativity and comfort through this process of returning to Self-leadership. IFS helps you return to your self quicker by strengthening the core of who you are even under stressful and difficult times.
Through learning to connect to your Self in this way life makes greater sense. You develop ways to access a deep knowing about who you are and what you want and need. You feel good about yourself in new ways. You have the clarity.
